FAQ for Custom orders

If you want to order a custom Kinfe or a spot for a custom Knife, please read this few things before. It´ll help you and me to clearify some things in advance.

What steel do i use/work with?
Well i honestly work with every steel that is availlable for me.
At first it depends on you, what you want:

Stainless?
High Carbon (non stainless)?
High alloyed PM Steel (both, stainless and not stainless)?

If you have any favorite steel, let me know. If it is availlable, I can do that.

My go to staniless steels are:
14c28n, Magnacut, M390
They´re availlable in good kitchenknife dimensions (talking about blade height).
Some are forgeablde, some not. Magnacut and M390 are high alloeyed PM steels. I can´t forge them.

Non Stainless Steels are forgeable and I do not stock remove them anymore. I only forge them.
My favorite High Carbon Steels are:
52100, Apex Ultra, 1.2419, 1.2562

PM Steels I´ve worked with:
Vanadis 4/8/23
Magnacut
M390
They´re availlable in good dimensions.

What Handle Material?
It also depends on what you prefer and what´s availlable for me.
There is basically no limit.
I usually have not that much stabilized wood in stock. So if you have any favorite in in your mind, let me know what it is and I will see where i can buy it.

Or if you have wood that you want me to put on your kinfe, that´s also no problem. You have to send it to me of course.

I´ve worked with wood, stabilized wood, micarta, G10, elforyn, ... and so on.

What´s the price for a knife?
The most asked question. But the hardest to answer.
Why? Because it depends on everything.
Dimension and Material(s).
A small petty, stock removed out of 14c28n for example is much cheaper than a fulltang Gyuto out of Vanadis 8.
The material itself but also the time I need to make that.
High alloyed steels are way harder to work with. I need more time, more grinding belts and stuff. And the stock material is much more expensive.

For example: just the material for a Vanadis 8 Gyuto is about 170€. just the steel...

Customs are a bit more expensive than availlable knives. Because it takes more time communicating with the customer. Making a drawing, checking Materials, order them, Grind the geometriy as you want it to have. These are all things that took time. More time than usually.
